I just discovered that none of the music that I purchased through the iTunes store before about 2009 will play on my iPhone. I have gotten no satisfactory answer about why this has happened. Additionally, I have been informed that if I want to try to re-download the music, I will have to re-purchase it. I have also not yet received a satisfactory answer as to why this is the case.
This has made me exceedingly grumpy, as you can imagine.
I've done damn-all little with iTunes or other downloaded music, since I just play it on my computer.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if you could convert the older iTunes into some other format (MP3?) that your iPhone recognizes.
I do use a utility that captures and converts YouTube videos, so something may be available.
This is likely my best option, but it would probably lose some fidelity in the process, so it's still a lesser resort (not quite last, but further down the list). Maybe I can badger iTunes into at least feeling guilty and offering me some store credit to repurchase the songs.
DeleteUpdate-- I have successfully burned and reripped three of the affected songs as MP3s instead of protected AAC, and they all now play on the phone. I'm still grumpy, though.
